Coaching Methodology & Technique

We use the GROW Model as a basis of the coaching process.

We use the Integrative Enneagram techniques as framework. The Enneagram is a powerful, internationally-recognized coaching tool that enables radical insights and deep long-term development journeys. The Integrative Enneagram Questionnaire (iEQ9) combines accuracy, scalability and depth of insight.

We are also affiliated to Arbinger Institute South Africa, as an independent facilitator.

Arbinger Institute’s approach:

  • Establishes a shift in people to focus on improving results.
  • Initiates a paradigm shift in individuals from being self-centred to being focused on others and results.
  • Addresses the issues around resistance to change and the reasons for resisting change.
  • Minimises opportunity costs, such as lack of engagement, lack accountability, low levels of trust, cooperation and transparency.
  • Fosters a change in mindset.

Founder Background

Akhona Tota has more than 15 years’ experience for mainly global multinational manufacturing organizations, having been in leadership positions for the past 8 years.

Our Board Staff In her role as HR Manager at Aspen Pharmacare, East London she managed the full scope of site human resources, supporting leadership meet objectives whilst undergoing transformation. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, leadership and Executive coaching studies from Nelson Mandela University and UCT, pursuing studies in Industrial psychology.

She is an Enneagram Practitioner trained by Integrative Enneagram Solutions SA. She is affiliated to Arbinger Institute SA, as a discussion leader for the Outward Mindset online training program.

About Me

COMPANY FOUNDER

I believe in personal mastery as an accelerator for growth, both personally & professionally. I carved a career in Human Resources which spans over 16 years, prompted by my passion of working with people. Stepping into leadership roles my inner challenges limited me in many ways, with the academic & leadership training not quite filling the gap.  

This is often called the way of being, and I seriously got in my own way. It is during these years that I started to piece my intentional story together, a lot was brought to my awareness through various tools but application was something. A drastic decision to leave a comfortable and high paying corporate world led me to embrace myself and my purpose. Reflecting on learnings I never applied, I found these critical stepping stones in personal growth, leadership effectiveness & collaboration, and here I am….

My Approach

Solutions focused coaching is our approach. We face hills and mountains to summit, and often we get stuck in the valley of unconscious comfort zones or destructive vacuums. I have a genuine interest in people and helping them grow through these.

I use the Enneagram as a framework to my coaching practice. This tool unlocks self-awareness and regulation, as well as psychological safety dynamics in relationship management, with a scientific base. How we show up at home, work and teams is impacted by who we are. I use Arbinger Institute’s Outward Mind-set coaching tools and strategies. In my professional experience I found the Arbinger way a gem for organisational development, strategic leadership norms, a common language for improving culture, performance and productivity. The Outward mind-set encourages critical conversations, developing accountable people, and collaboration.

It focuses on valuing others for collective results, eradicating SILO’s that are symptoms of a dysfunctional culture, which contribute to steep unseen costs to the organisation, and undermine all other efforts. These tools and strategies can also be applied to home environments to improve and enhance personal relationships.

MY NICHE

My focus is to help others embrace authenticity, consciousness and living a purposeful life. I support Leaders who want to impact others positively whilst organisational driving results, and lead with purpose and authenticity.

This includes helping teams to connect and embrace the power of emotional intelligence, united in one vision. I work with professionals and new entrants to the world of work, who want to grow personally and professionally, embracing a purpose driven existence.
